Sad to report, Koie Ryoji passed away this week. He was a great influence to hundreds of potters around the world. His idea of letting clay speak through his work, has influenced my own work and that of so many others. Koie Ryoji 1938 - 2020

I talked to his daughter this morning. She said her father passed away yesterday. I have not seen him for over a half year. He has been hospitalized all that time. I met him the first day I came to Tokoname, 30 years ago. He took me in and gave me dinner and a place to sleep. If were not for him, I would not have come to live here. I am so glad our paths crossed.

Great to see pots thrown the wrong direction. Where did that come from. My wheel is counterclockwise. Would like to see more of the finished works! Thank you
